Boomerangs in Minneapolis

Boomerangs in Minneapolis

Minneapolis prides itself on being the most park friendly city in the US. If you are standing anywhere in Minneapolis then you are no more than 1/2 mile from a park with a recreation center. The rec centers pride themselves on being the heart of its neighborhood.

Every one of these parks has space to play a variety of sports and they are ideal areas for throwing boomerangs. Not all have huge, open spaces (needed if you’re out throwing Z-Quinzee), they all have an area that is big enough to be out there throwing and catching boomerangs : )

Z-Rang & Calhoun Cycle

Calhoun Cycle is the home base for Z-Rang and has been from the start.
Minnesota winters are long, cold and harsh, making them fairly inhospitable for a lot of the cyclists out there. For a bike shop this can be seen as a plus or a minus depending on who you are. Z-Rang viewed it as an opportunity to work with a non-bike medium (wood) and keep busy doing something fun and creative.
Z-Rang is very responsible for many spins and turns that Calhoun Cycle has been through over the years. The introduction of recumbents and folding bikes were both introduced at an event that Luke and Mary were selling Z-Rangs at. These bike designs both play a big role in the face of Calhoun Cycle. Utility bikes and cargo bikes (bikes that round out the current lineup at Calhoun Cycle) were always a part of the staff’s interests, but in the earlier years there wasn’t much of a market for them.
